Well the house is almost painted. One more side to go! Got back from my magic lecture for the NY Clown Alley in Queens, NY and had a great time. Lots of fun people. Never fun driving in NY. So it's a cloudy day high atop the WBSM studios but today I plan to play some great singers who you may not know about yet. Enjoy!

Caller told the story of her ten year old daughter tricking her father to go on Space Mountain saying that it was an easy ride with aliens comingat you. Never mentioned that it was a rollercoaster. She winked at the ride operator so he wouldn't spoil it. When the rtide ended, mom said to let the girl out first so she could get a running start!

Remember taking the cork out of the bottle cap and attaching it on your hat. The cap would be a "badge of honor".

A Caller mentioned a soda machine filled with cold water that smelled terrible. The water was probably there for months (if not years!) She'd take the bottle across the street and open it using a chain link fence!

TALK TO ME ABOUT HATS YOU USED TO WEAR.

A caller wore hats all the time to church. The Kennedy's popularized hats once again when he became president. Top hats on magicians are pretty much obsolete. In fact, the sterotype magician wearing a top hat, moustache and rabbit is actually a characature of a very famous magician in the eary 20th Century named Alexander Hermann who was a famous and popular as Tom Cruise is today.

A caller used to wear a porkpie hat. I have one of those and still wear it sometimes! We also talked about the loss of neighborhoods where if you did something wrong, you shamed your family. Single women who got pregnant would move out of town in shame. If a child got into a fight, a neighbor would get involved to break it up. The caller felt that we were too politically correct.

A caller wore a tam with an elastic band under her chin although she wished for a scarf. Her mom and aunt used to wear beautiful hats to church. When they died, there were 32 hats beautifully wrapped in hat boxes. People took pride in their hats and considered them treasured posessions.

Caller - The Kennedy's wore hats because they had class. They tried to show people how to be proper. People don't dress up for church or the theatre anymore. Hat racks were everywhere for people to hang them. Now kids wear hats indoors which is wrong!

The decline of civilization begins when manners disappear. Unfortunately we have a generation of people who grew up with little or no manners so they are not teaching their children how to be proper.
